LIMITED AVAILABILITY: Oyster Farm Tour Experience (for up to 10 Guests)

$100.00

A trip to Barrier Island Oyster Company is like stepping back in time. Located in historic Rockville, SC at the southern tip of Wadmalaw Island, our dock has been in continuous commercial operation since the 1930’s - and is one of coastal South Carolina’s last working waterfronts.

We’re just 45 minutes from downtown Charleston, but a world away. And now, for a limited time, you, and up to nine friends, are invited to visit our farm for a 60 minute, land-based personal guided tour.

Upon arrival, you’ll be struck by the stunning panoramic views along Bohicket Creek to Seabrook and Edisto Islands. Once you recover you’ll see firsthand how we raise some of the finest oysters in the world from tiny seeds to briny singles ready for the raw bar, and experience the passion for quality and sustainability that drives everything we do along the way.

Each Oyster Farm Experience can accommodate up to ten guests and includes a guided tour of our waterfront processing facility. All guests will be invited to enjoy our premium local singles freshly pulled from the creek. (No charge for dolphin sightings!)

FINE PRINT: We will contact you within 48 hours of order confirmation to discuss scheduling. Tour dates are currently available only on Wednesdays and Thursdays and must be scheduled at least 14 days in advance. Requests to reschedule less than 7 days prior to your chosen tour date will be accommodated at our discretion. We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel tours due to inclement weather up to 2 hours prior to your arrival time. All guests must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by an adult.

Where To Find Us

You will find us on Cherry Point Road, just past the “East Coast Seafood” sign. Continue down the dirt road until you reach the water and see one of out Shell Raisers waiting for you! You can park anywhere along the water’s edge - just as long as it does not block the main flow of traffic to and from the dock.

What To Wear

Our outdoor farm facility is immersed in the marsh environment so we recommend wearing attire that you do not mind getting dirty and/or wet. Please wear close toed shoes and check the weather before you arrive! Depending on the forecast, proper outdoor attire such as rain jackets, hats, sunglasses, coats, etc. is encouraged.

What To Expect

This experience operates rain or shine unless severe weather puts the team at risk. Your tour leader will be in touch with you if there is a risk of severe weather and can issue a refund or reschedule for another date.
